What browsers are best for Office 365

The question often asked regarding Office 365 is which browser to use. There is not that much difference between the browsers, however the version is important. Microsoft's recommendation for Office 365 is to use the most up to date browser you can.

Due to the constant release cycle of browsers, the recommendation is to use either the current browser version, or the immediately preceding version. For example, if the current version of Google Chrome is Version 50.xxxxx, then either version 50.xxxxx or 49.xxxxx should give the best possible experience.

Microsoft Browsers

Microsoft provides Internet Explorer across all Windows machines. They also provide the new 'Edge' browser on Windows 10 machines.

If you wish to use Internet Explorer, the recommendation is to use IE 11. From now, IE 10 is not recommended and we suggest that you upgrade if possible.

The 'Edge' browser on Windows 10 should be kept up to date through the automated Windows Update feature. As it is a new browser, there are bugs being fixed all the time, and a list of problems with Edge and Office 365 is updated by Microsoft here. If you have issues with Edge, please try Internet Explorer 11.
